Start with your devices

Check whether the service supports your operating systems and how many simultaneous connections your plan includes. Router support, browser extensions and app features can differ.

Understand the subscription

Compare the total initial charge, contract length, renewal price, trial billing and refund conditions. An introductory monthly equivalent may require an upfront annual payment.

Know the limits

A VPN is one part of safer browsing. It does not prevent every scam, make a logged-in account anonymous or guarantee access to a service. Read the provider’s privacy policy and any independent audit reports in full.
